The International Monetary Fund said on Wednesday it stood ready to support Haiti in the wake of a devastating earthquake that is feared to have left thousands dead.
"I am confident that the international community will mobilize quickly to offer support to help this nation," IMF Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn said. "The IMF stands ready to do its part with appropriate support in our areas of expertise. I have already asked staff to look into all the possibilities." (Reuters)
