The World Bank said it will provide $100 million in emergency aid to Haiti to support recovery and reconstruction work in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake that struck the Caribbean nation.
The bank said it was sending experts to work with the government and its international partners to assess the scope of the damage and help prioritize where needs are greatest. The bank's country director for the Caribbean, Yvonne Tsikata, said money provided to Haiti could be used for budget support to help the government or more practically for school reconstruction. (AP)
