Israel asks Greece to help renovate torched synagogue

The Foreign Ministry Deputy Head of the Europe Department Naor Gilon spoke on the phone with the Greek Ambassador to Israel, Nikolas Zafiropoulos and expressed Israel's concern over the torching of the ancient synagogue in the Crete city of Chania – the second time in three weeks.
The Greek Ambassador replied that his government was also concerned by the recent events and promised they would act to promptly incarcerate those responsible. The ambassador also noted that he will pass along Israel's request that the Greek government contributes to the synagogue's renovation. (Roni Sofer)
