US: Iranian response to nuclear proposal inadequate

The US State Department on Tuesday said Iran's response to a proposal by six major powers to enrich uranium for a research reactor in Tehran was "inadequate."
The powers working to curb Iran's nuclear program last year proposed Tehran ship low-enriched uranium abroad for further enrichment so it could be used in a research reactor. Iran effectively ignored a December 31 deadline to respond to the deal. "It is clearly an inadequate response," State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley told reporters. (Reuters)
