Russia says regrets Iran refusal on fuel offer

Russia regrets that Iran seems to have rejected a proposal from world powers to enrich uranium abroad, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday.

When asked about the prospect of sanctions against Tehran, Lavrov said Russia wanted world powers to push ahead with efforts to resolve the Iranian nuclear problem through talks. He said the United Nations Security Council could discuss new sanctions against Iran, but did not say whether Russia would support them. (Reuters)
