Barak: We did not build Ariel University, only approved its recognition

Defense Minister Ehud Barak addressed students on Tuesday and said, "We did not build the university in Ariel – we only authorized that they call it a university. This was a clause in the coalition agreement with Yisrael Beiteinu."
His remarks came in response to a question by a student asking, "Why is there a construction freeze in Samaria on the one hand, and on the other hand, the Ariel college was allowed to be turned into a university?" (Raanan Ben-Zur)
