Land mine blast wounds 7 Philippine army soldiers

Police say a land mine has exploded and wounded at least one army officer and six soldiers in the restive southern Philippines.

Police Chief Inspector Jerson Birrey said Wednesday that it was not immediately clear who was behind the attack late Tuesday in the farming township of Makilala in North Cotabato. The area has been hit by deadly bombings blamed on al-Qaeda-linked militants in recent years. (AP)
