Bulgaria to increase troops in Afghanistan

Bulgaria plans to send 100 more soldiers to bolster its 500-strong contingent in Afghanistan this year, the Defence Ministry said on Friday.

The centre-right government, elected last July, initially said the economic crisis would not allow it to provide more forces but later changed its mind under pressure from the United States and NATO. (Reuters)
