January deadliest month in Afghanistan since start of war
The casualty figures among NATO soldiers in Afghanistan last month were the highest since the start of fighting in the country. Forty-four foreign soldiers were killed in fighting, versus just 25 during the same period last year.
Of the 44 soldiers killed, 29 were American soldiers. (AFP)
