Palestinians: Attempted attack – response to Hamas official's murder
Palestinian sources in the Gaza Strip told Ynet that the attempted attack using oil barrels on Ashdod and Ashkelon was a response to the assassination of Mahmoud al-Mabhouh, the Hamas senior official who was killed in Dubai on January 20. Hamas is blaming Israel for his death.
According to the source, the Palestinian organizations performed several tests on explosives in recent days and succeeded in placing four devices Friday night and transport them to Ashkelon. The source said that each of the devices weighed approximately 80 kg and were meant to be detonated by remote control. (Ali Waked)
