MK Rotem: Subcommittee to check foreign funds to Israeli organizations
Chairman of the Knesset Constitution, Law and Justice Committee MK David Rotem (Yisrael Beitenu) declared his intention to form a subcommittee to check contributions to Israeli NGOs from foreign governments and organizations.
Rotem said that such a subcommittee would not investigate specific organizations, but that a "thorough investigation of the system of receiving funds from foreign states is required." The move comes after MK Otniel Schneller (Kadima) initiated a parliamentary committee to investigate reports that Israeli organizations gave testimonies to the Goldstone report. (Amnon Meranda)
