El-Sana: Ban on Syria visits prevents progress towards peace
MK Talab El-Sana (United Arab List-Ta'al) has asked Israel's attorney general to cancel the indictment against MK Said Naffaa (Balad) for his visit to Syria. The request follows Defense Minister Ehud Barak's assertion that a full-scale war may break out unless peace is reached with Syria.
"The defense minister's important announcement emphasizes the importance of dialogue with Syria, and the importance of the mission fulfilled by Naffaa," El-Sana said. "I intend to propose a law that will cancel the law that forbids visits to Syria. This is a foolish law that prevents progress towards peace and perpetuates war by neutralizing parliamentary activities of publicly elected figures." (Sharon Roffe-Ofir)
