Report: Avram Grant may face police questioning in UK brothel inquiry

Israeli manager of Premiership's Portsmouth photographed by The Sun entering and leaving 'massage parlor' near club's training ground

Avram Grant, the Israeli manager of the Premier League team Portsmouth, could be questioned by police after he was pictured leaving a 'massage parlor', British newspaper The Daily Mail reported Thursday.

Grant, 54, has come to the attention of police after they launched an investigation into a brothel where prostitutes charge £130 ($208) for intercourse.

The Portsmouth boss, a married father of two, was pictured by The Sun entering and leaving the brothel near his club's training ground in Eastleigh, Hampshire before entering a chauffeur-driven car, according to the report.

Grant is said to have freely admitted that he knew it was a brothel, The Sun was unable to reveal his identity last year, citing 'creeping privacy laws'.

His identity was revealed by the Daily Telegraph after police sources confirmed that they were pursuing an active investigation into the brothel.

"Investigators told the newspaper that they will be speaking to clients of the brothel, who could be called as witnesses if the inquiry results in a prosecution of anyone alleged to be living off immoral earnings," according to the report.

A source close to the investigation was quoted by The Daily Mail as saying, 'We want to speak to people who have been there, to clients who might be potential witnesses.'

Grant, who used to manage Premiership powerhouse Chelsea, allegedly declined to answer questions about the brothel visit.

Grant's trip to the brothel was said to be his second trip there following an hour-long visit in October, the report said.

Grant's wife Tzofit told Ynet on Thursday, "Be reasonable; who goes to a brothel in the middle of the day while wearing a Portsmouth uniform when he knows he is a famous person? The place in question is a massage parlor; a place where you get massages.

"However," she continued, "It is important to make the distinction between a celebrity and an elected official. He (Avram) does not owe anybody any explanations."
