Lawmaker: Russia, West closer on Iran sanctions

Russia and Western powers have moved closer to agreement on the need for new sanctions against Iran over its nuclear programme, a leading Russian lawmaker said Thursday.

Konstantin Kosachyov, the Kremlin-allied head of the foreign affairs committee in the lower house of parliament, said mutual understanding between Russia and other nations on the issue of additional sanctions "has clearly increased." (Reuters)
