Brown sworn in as US senator replacing Kennedy

None

Scott Brown is now officially a US senator, taking over a seat held for decades by the late Sen. Edward Kennedy. The Massachusetts Republican was sworn in by Vice President Joe Biden on Thursday.

The little-known former state senator rocked the US with his upset victory last month over a favored Democrat and put this year's November elections in play for a possible Republican takeover of Congress. (AP)
