Russia says any sanctions must not target Iran economy

Any new sanctions against Iran should focus on stopping nuclear proliferation rather than targeting its economy, Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov said Saturday.

"If in future hypothetically, if new sanctions are imposed, we are sure that sanctions should be limited to non-proliferation only and not be expanded to cultural, humanitarian, economic parts of Iranian activity," Ivanov told reporters at an annual security conference in the German city of Munich.
