French President Nicolas Sarkozy and US Defense Secretary Robert Gates agreed on Monday that Iran should face "strong sanctions" over its nuclear program, a French official said following a meeting between the two men.
Sarkozy and Gates met for almost an hour, with Iran one of the main points on their agenda. "They agreed that it was time to adopt strong sanctions (against Iran), in the hope of restarting negotiations," the French official said. (Reuters)
