Survey: Likud, Meretz gain strength

Published: 02.09.10, 10:42 / Israel News

A survey by the Smith Institute and Ynet shows that if general elections were to be held today, the Likud would gain power and win 32 seats, compared to the 27 seats it won in last year's election. Kadima would loose votes and go down to 26 seats in Knesset.

The Labor party would only win eight seats, despite relative satisfaction with Defense Minister Ehud Barak. Support for most of the other parties remained relatively stable, except for Meretz, which won five seats in the poll, as opposed to the three seats it won last year. Education Minister Gideon Sa'ar was voted the most popular minister in the poll. (Attila Somfalvi)
