School fire kills 12 children in India

At least 12 children were killed after a fire broke out overnight in a school hostel in India's northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh, police said on Thursday.

About 60 students were sleeping when the blaze, which spread from an oil lamp, gutted the hostel made of bamboo and straw in Palin town, about 260 km (161 miles) north of state capital Itanagar. (Reuters)
