Meretz chairman says High Court ruling must be honored by MKs
Meretz Chairman MK Chaim Oron responded to the criticism raised by many MKs following the High Court ruling that nullified a section of the law that allows extending the remand of security detainees even in their absence.
MK Oron said, "it isn't conceivable that the conditioned reflex of members of Knesset, including the Knesset speaker, to High Court rulings will be to call for a reduction of its authority or legislate laws that try to circumvent its ruling, without actually obeying the ruling." (Amnon Meranda)
