Canada: Protesters converge on store in downtown Vancouver

The display windows of a popular Vancouver department store were splashed with red paint and shattered by protesters of the Olympic Games on Saturday morning. Police say the group of more than 200 masked protesters marched through the city's upscale shopping district, vandalizing cars and stores. It was the first day of competition at the games.
Witnesses say protesters threw metal boxes into the display windows of Hudson's Bay Co., where Olympic souvenirs are sold. Riley Arcand, who lives near the store, saw the demonstration and said the protesters appeared to be angry about the money that was spent on the Vancouver Games. (AP)
