Minister Aharonovitch: Southern border must be closed due to drug trafficking

None

Internal Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch said the drug trafficking problem in Israel is currently bigger than it ever was.

Speaking at an event held by the Israel Anti-Drug Authority (IADA) he said, "The borders are more alive with drug trafficking than ever before: Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and Egypt, also from the sea and air. I am happy the prime minister decided to adopt the model for the establishment of a fence on the southern border, because this border must be closed." (Efrat Weiss)
