Jenin: Youth arrested in possession of 4 pipe bombs

Border Guard force detains Palestinian after uncovering explosive concealed in his belongings at roadblock near West Bank city

A Border Guard force uncovered four pipe bombs concealed between the belongings of a Palestinian youth, who arrived at a checkpoint northwest of Jenin.

The Israel Defense Forces reported that sappers dispatched to the area began defusing the explosives and that the teen was taken in for questioning by the security forces.

Wednesday evening's incident joins a series of terror attacks and attempts to target Israelis in the West Bank, headed by the deadly stabbing attack at the Tapuach Junction last week.

Last weekend the security forces foiled an attempt to stab a soldier in Hebron, and three days ago three Palestinian youths tried to smuggle explosive devices and a knife through a checkpoint in the Nablus area.

Captain Eliran Avnaim, commander of the Kfir Brigade's Haruv Battalion, told Ynet following Sunday's incident that "thousand people cross through this checkpoint everyday, so the soldiers must remain alert at all times in order to seize weapons and protect themselves."
