Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that he will not attend late Prime Minister Menachem Begin's annual memorial ceremony following the family's request. The family asked Netanyahu not to attend in order to prevent the hustle surrounding the PM's security arrangements.
Netanyahu initially denied the family's request, but after speaking with Begin's son, Minister Benny Begin, he decided to respect their wishes. "Only friends can ask for such a request. The place is small and cluttered," Begin told Ynet. (Attila Somfalvi and Amnon Meranda)
