Niger coup leadership says suspends constitution

The leadership of a coup that ousted Niger President Mamadou Tandja on Thursday said they suspended the country's constitution and disolved all state institutions.

The statement was read over state television by Colonel Goukoye Abdul Karimou, spokeman for the military junta calling itself the Supreme Council for the Restoration of Democracy (CSRD). (Reuters)
