Deputy Prime Minister Silvan Shalom (Likud) met with Deputy Secretary of State Jack Lew and discussed various economic initiatives in the PA and Jordan, including the proposal to construct a canal to the Dead Sea from the Mediterranean.
Lew also passed on requests from the US government to ease the transfer of funds to the PA and the granting of permits to enter Israel. Shalom noted that Israel has taken steps which have led to growth in the Palestinian economy during the previous year, of over 10%. (Roni Sofer)
