Something stinks in the Knesset

Employees at parliament's new wing complain of strong sewage odor; 'we can't work like this; the smell causes severe headaches and nausea,' parliamentary aide says

Knesset employees have complained in recent days of a strong sewage odor coming from the hallway of a new wing which houses parliament's permanent committees.

"We can't work like this; the smell is awful," a parliamentary aide said, "It causes severe headaches, nausea and dizziness. It's impossible to concentrate on anything; you have to smell it yourself to understand the kind of stench we're talking about here."

One Knesset member said jokingly, "They better fix it soon, or else people will say that politics stink."

The Knesset's management said in response to the complaints that the problem, which originated from a malfunction in the air-conditioning system, has been taken care of and steps have been taken to make sure the odor does not return.
