Barak warns Ban Ki-Moon against Iranian nuclear threat

Defense Minister Ehud Barak met with UN secretary-general Ban Ki-Moon in order to discuss the Iranian nuclear threat. Barak told the secretary-general that "nuclear weapons in Iran will shift the entire strategic balance in the region. We must place debilitating sanctions on Iran, with a restricted time-limit."
Ban supported the Israeli view that Iran must be prevented from acquiring nuclear weapons, and promised that the UN will do everything in its power to promote such sanctions. (Roni Sofer)
