Barak to Gates: Important to impose crippling sanctions on Iran
Iran is the whole world's problem, not just Israel's, Defense Minister Ehud Barak said Thursday during a meeting with US Defense Secretary Robert Gates in Washington. "At this stage it's important to impose serious and crippling sanctions in order to prevent it from achieving nuclear ability," he noted.
Barak's statements come after State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley said that the US does not intend on imposing crippling sanctions on Tehran seeing as those would mainly hurt the Iranian people. (Yitzhak Benhorin, Washington)
