Man suspected of threatening PM's wife detained
Elderly man confesses to sending letter to Prime Minister's Office in which he threatened to murder Sara Netanyahu 'if anything happens' to housekeeper who filed lawsuit claiming abuse
Jerusalem police arrested a 72-year-old man from the central city of Bat Yam on Sunday suspected of sending a death threat to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's wife, Sara.
The man allegedly sent a letter to the Prime Minister's Office, addressed to Sara Netanyahu, in which he threatened to murder her over her behavior toward her former housekeeper Lillian Peretz.
"If anything happens to the housekeeper, your blood will be on your own hands. I will give you a bullet in the head and no bodyguard will be able to help you," the letter read.
During his investigation, the man claimed that he sent the letter out of anger, and expressed remorse over the act. Lillian Peretz has also been subjected to harassment and threats in recent months, following a lawsuit she filed against Netanyahu in which she made claims of poor employment conditions.
Almost two months ago it was revealed that Oren Avraham, an inmate who was responsible for the harassment of many, and even ordered pizzas to a cabinet meeting at the expense of the Prime Minister's Office's secretary general, was the main suspect in death threats sent to Peretz.
An investigation revealed that Avraham did not make the threatening calls by dialing directly from the prison payphone to the Peretz family home.
In her lawsuit against the prime minister's wife, Peretz claimed that Netanyahu abused her and paid her a salary that was below minimum wage.
The claim read that "Lillian was forced to bring four sets of clothes with her to work: One set of clothes for the laundry, a set of clothes for cleaning the toilets and showers, a set of clothes for cleaning the bedrooms, and a fourth set of clothes for cleaning the kitchen. If she would dare break these clear orders by Netanyahu, the latter would shout and lose her senses."
