The Knesset approved a bill proposal, according to which a doctor will have to have at least a basic level of Hebrew in order to receive a license to practice in Israel.
MK Arieh Eldad (National Union), who initiated the proposal, said "This is a law that protects patients, ensures basic communication between the patient and the doctor, and ensures that the doctor can read the patient's file to know the patient's medical history."
