Libya has declared a trade and economic embargo on Switzerland after its leader Muammar Gaddafi called for a jihad, or armed struggle, against the European nation, the Tripoli government said on Wednesday. The announcement was made in a statement reported by the state news agency Jana.
Libya is involved in a diplomatic row with Switzerland which began in July 2008 when police in Geneva arrested Gaddafi's son Hannibal on charges, which were later dropped, of mistreating two domestic employees. (Reuters)
