US to give Colombia trade pact proposals

The United States will give Colombia a list of proposals in coming months to resolve labor and violence concerns that have blocked US approval of a free-trade agreement for over three years, the top US trade official said on Wednesday.

"We are hopeful we can come to some resolution with members of Congress (on the proposals) over the next several months, if not weeks ... so that we can then go back to Colombia with a finite list of what we'd like to see get done," US Trade Representative Ron Kirk told the Senate Finance Committee.
