Obama says to reduce role of US nuclear weapons

US President Barack Obama said on Friday a forthcoming review of the United States' nuclear posture would reduce the number and role of nuclear weapons in the US national security strategy.

In a statement marking the 40th anniversary of the nuclear non-proliferation treaty, Obama said: "In addition, we will seek to ratify the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty and negotiate a treaty to end the production of fissile material for use in nuclear weapons. (Reuters)
