Iran holds trial of suspects in post-vote detainees' death

Iran held on Tuesday the first trial of 12 people suspected of torturing detainees arrested after the Islamic Republic's disputed June presidential election, the official IRNA news agency reported.

At least three people arrested during widespread unrest after the vote died in custody in Kahrizak detention centre and a parliamentary report in January said more than 145 detainees were kept for several days in a room of 70 square metres there. (Reuters)
