Leading Sunni cleric Tantawi dies in Saudi Arabia
Leading Sunni cleric Sheikh Mohammed Sayed Tantawi died in Riyadh Wednesday.
Egyptian TV reported that Tantawi, who was the Grand Imam of al-Azhar Mosque suffered a heart attack which caused his death. Tantawi was known to harshly condemn the Muslim practice of circumcising women and led a ban on the custom in Egypt. (Roee Nahmias)
