The Civil Administration, along with IDF forces, demolished six building foundations in Gush Etzion, five of which were in Bat Ayin, and one of which was intended to be a synagogue.
The demolition caused an uproar among settlement residents. Knesset Member Zeev Elkin (Likud) and Arieh Eldad (National Union) said: "Minister Barak crossed a red line when he ignored the cabinet decision and destroyed a synagogue in the middle of the night in Gush Katif, which is at the heart of Israeli consensus."
