Police in eastern Afghanistan say three members of an elite strike force have been killed in an overnight attack by insurgents.
The police chief of Paktia province, Azizudin Wardak, says insurgents launched an attack on a police post on the outskirts the provincial capital. When a rapid-response police force rushed to aid the fight, the militants detonated a roadside bomb, killing three officers including the strike force's commander. (AP)
