Abbas asks Mitchell for settlement building guarantees
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas asked US special envoy to the Middle East George Mitchell for the US to provide guarantees for a complete cessation of Israeli building in West Bank settlements, according to Palestinian media outlets.
According to the reports, Abbas asked that Israel revoke its decision to build 1,600 new housing units in the Ramat Shlomo neighborhood in east Jerusalem. (Roee Nahmias)
