Meretz: Don't let Shas build haredi city in center of Israel

The Meretz faction has issued a statement following a proposal to expand the city of Harish, saying it supports the residents' battle to prevent the community from turning haredi.

"We urge the government to maintain the gentle fabric of relations in Wadi Ara between Jews and Arabs, secular and haredim, and not to allow the Shas ministers build a haredi city in the center of the country, while destroying the place's diverse character and identity." (Sharon Roffe-Ofir)
