Bill proposed regarding publication of suspect's name
The Knesset Ministerial Committee for Legislative Affairs approved a bill proposal that forbids the publication of the name of a suspect against whom an indictment has not yet been submitted, for a period of 48 hours from the time he is informed that investigations against him have begun.
The bill is intended to give a suspect time to request the court to prohibit the publication of his name. If his case is discussed before a judge, the period of publication prohibition may be shortened. (Amnon Meranda)
