Haifa Magistrate's Court has ordered the Israel Electric Corporation to pay NIS 750,000 ($202,000) to the family of a Palestinian boy who was electrocuted.
The boy, Mamdouh Ahmed Qiyan, was a shepherd in the Yatir Forest about two and a half years ago when he climbed an electricity pole and died from electrocution. The prosecution claimed there were no warning signs or defensive barriers. The court rejected the defense's argument that the company could not have foreseen that minors would be in the area.
