Abbas to Ashton: Put pressure on Israel against settlement building

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas asked EU foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton to put pressure on Israel regarding the continued building in settlements.
"President Abbas sent a message to Mrs. Ashton in a letter in which he requested EU intervention in putting pressure on Israel to freeze building in the settlements and Jerusalem," according to a statement issued from Abbas' office in Ramallah. (AFP)
