A group of 37 Holocaust survivors filed a petition with the High Court of Justice Thursday against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz claiming they are exercising a different and discriminatory policy towards them, compared with other Holocaust survivors.
The petitioners, who have not been subjected to death camps, claim that the State does not recognize illnesses they suffer from which bear a causal relation to the Holocaust. They claim they have been exposed to inhuman living conditions, hunger, and serious illnesses also in the years after the war, which have led them to develop various illnesses in the present time.
