Abbas praises Quartet, calls for immediate halt to settlements

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called on Israel to halt all construction in settlements – including that explained by "natural growth", and to stop evacuating and demolishing houses in east Jerusalem.
Abbas said a Middle East Quartet statement to the same effect was "very important", and added Israel must heed it in order to allow a relaunching of peace talks. (Ynet)
