Officials in Jerusalem working to schedule meetings between PM, senior US officials

The Prime Minister's Office scheduled Saturday a meeting between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US Secretary of Defense Robert Gates this coming Monday.
At this time, officials say there is a high likelihood that the PM will also be meeting with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during his upcoming visit to Washington. However, it is still unclear whether Netanyahu will meet President Barack Obama during the trip.
Israel had not asked to schedule a Netanyahu-Obama meeting because the president was not scheduled to be in Washington during Bibi's visit. However, the president's trip to Asia was postponed and he will be in the American capital after all during the Israeli PM's visit.
Netanyahu will be departing to the US Sunday night to attend the AIPAC Conference in Washington, after meeting in Jerusalem with US Special Envoy George Mitchell and with visiting UN Chief Ban Ki-moon.
The prime minister is expected to meet with European leaders in Brussels before returning to Israel from the US.
Earlier, the PM reportedly initiated a letter of clarification sent to Washington following his conversation with Clinton. The letter was transferred via Ambassador Michael Oren and details Israeli gestures to the US and to the Palestinians.
