Labor ministers oppose moving emergency room over graves

Minister of the Labor Party will vote against relocating the fortified emergency room at the Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon, following a haredi demand that it be moved due to ancient graves located in the area, at a cost of NIS 135 million ($36 million).
Defense Minister Ehud Barak said at the end of a Labor ministers' meeting, "We oppose the emergency room's relocation. This is not the time to cause a rift in the coalition on the backdrop of a demand for graves which are probably Roman and pagan." (Roni Sofer)
