UN chief meets with deputy FM

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon met with Deputy Foreign Minister Daniel Ayalon on Sunday. Ban said he was pleased with the proximity talks with the Palestinians but stressed that he believed real achievement could only be struck through direct negotiation.
Ayalon briefed the UN chief on Israel's aid and rescue activities and introduced him to the head of the Israeli aid delegation to Haiti. (Roni Sofer)
