Education minister: Student fees increase 'only via negotiation'

Education Minister Gideon Saar denied that the Student Union and the Higher Education Council had come to an agreement about raising student fees as part of an understanding between them leading to negotiations.
"No student fee rate has been decided on," the minister said. "This will be decided only through negotiations." On Sunday, the Student Union approved a range of understandings that pave the way to negotiations with the Finance Ministry and the Higher Education Council, according to which students will get refunds totaling some NIS 100 million ($27 million).
