Chief of staff: Iran opposition can't stop nuclear plans

Chief of Staff Major-General Gabi Ashkenazi expressed his hope that sanctions against Iran will have the desired affect.
"In case anyone hoped that the regime had been weakened by the opposition's activities – the regime remains strong and effective, and it's not the opposition that will stop the nuclear program," he said during a session of the Knesset Security and Foreign Affairs Committee. The chief of staff also referred to Hezbollah, saying, "The (northern) border is quiet, but this could change. Hezbollah continues to arm." (Amnon Meranda)
